Taking good care of your virgin hair is essential to long lasting wigs and flawless extensions. Follow our tips on how to wash and condition your wavy or curly hair. For tips on washing and conditioning straight and wavy virgin hair, see here.
- Place the wig on your head and split the hair into a minimum of 4 sections, working through steps 2 and 3 one section at a time.
- Using a spray bottle dampen the hair and apply a conditioner of your choice.
- Run your finger through the hair to remove any major tangles and then using a wide tooth comb detangle the hair.
- Remove the sections from the wig, take the wig off of your head and wet it thoroughly with lukewarm water.
- Shampoo the hair from the root to tip, using your fingers to distribute the product.
(Throughout the process place your hand inside the wig and hold it upright in order to preserve the shape.) - Rinse well.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 two to three more times depending on how much product builds up is on the hair.
- Towel dry the hair to remove the excess water. Do not rub the hair, use a wiping motion.
- Use a deep conditioner/masque of your choice apply it generously, starting from the tips and working your way up to the roots (avoid the weft) using your fingers to distribute the product.
- Wrap the wig the tightly in cling film and then wrap the bundle in foil.
- Leave it in a warm place for at least 6 hours.
- Remove the foil and cling film and rinse thoroughly. Ensure all the product has been rinsed out!
- Add a generous amount of leave in conditioner and serum to the hair, focusing on the ends.
- Whilst the hair is still damp, use a Denman brush or paddle brush to redefine the curls.
- Leave to air dry on a mannequin head until both the hair and the mesh cap are completely dry. (Make sure you redefine any partings that the wig may have.)
- Style as desired.
